DITO Telecommunity has launched Silent Network Authentication, a technology that allows digital platforms to verify users directly through the mobile.

 DITO Telecommunity has launched Silent Network Authentication, a technology that allows digital platforms to verify users directly through the mobile network without relying on SMS one-time passwords (OTPs)

The authentication method verifies a user’s identity through the telecom network itself, reducing dependence on traditional SMS-based verification that has become vulnerable to SIM-swap attacks and message interception.

According to DITO Chief Commercial Officer Adel Tamano, the technology strengthens mobile transaction security by shifting verification away from older authentication methods.

The rollout was implemented in partnership with Shush and Twilio.

The deployment was highlighted during a session at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona focused on network APIs and telecom-based authentication systems.

Silent Network Authentication allows digital services such as banking apps, fintech platforms, and online services to confirm a user’s identity through network-level verification instead of sending OTP codes.

DITO said the technology could help address increasing fraud cases involving SMS-based authentication, particularly in mobile banking and digital payments.

The company added that financial institutions and digital platforms are already exploring the system as part of broader efforts to strengthen mobile transaction security.
